I was born and raised in upstate New York surrounded by trees, cows, and university professors. My mother and my grandmother taught me how to sew at a very early age; a skill that I find exceptionally useful to this day. I moved to New Mexico as a teenager and spent the time there floating through a variety of occupations from hospitality to media. While in Santa Fe, I befriended Shelley Horton-Trippe. Shelley helped me not develop technique, but instead how to incorporate my unique world view into my artwork, and to this day, these lessons have been a crucial part of the creative process.
I have been fortunate enough to experience painting, pottery, photography, glass blowing, stained glass, poetry, drawing and textiles.
I create because I need to be stimulated and pushing the boundaries of my abilities is one of the best ways to ensure I do not go through life bored.
My work has been displayed across the nation and is owned by private collectors around the world.
For 2010 I have settled myself on two large goals for my work:
With my paintings I aim to bring to light some of the inner workings of my imagination and lift back this veiled curtain of reality to entertain and enthrall and beg my viewer to ask "What if?"
Using primarily fabrics I resolve to use fiber as a medium to recreate some of my dreams and fantasies while further exploring a skill passed through my family for generations.
